A Summer Tradition Along Sandusky Bay
On summer evenings in Sandusky, Ohio, families gather along the waterfront with blankets and lawn chairs, waiting for the movie to begin.
The event is part of Movies by the Bay, a community movie series hosted by the City of Sandusky Parks and Recreation Department at Jackson Street Pier on Sandusky Bay.
Each week throughout the summer, residents come together to watch family films, enjoy the waterfront, and spend time with neighbors.

Bringing the Community Together
The Sandusky Parks and Recreation Department runs a wide range of programs that serve families across Sandusky and Erie County. These include youth activities, after-school programs, and summer camps that help keep young residents engaged throughout the year.
Movies by the Bay has become one of the city’s most popular summer events.
According to Jason Werling, Recreation Superintendent for the City of Sandusky, the program regularly brings together 200 to 250 residents who gather along the bay to watch animated films together.
Families bring chairs or blankets, settle onto the lawn near the water, and enjoy an evening outdoors with friends and neighbors.
