Aligned Frederick Data Center FAQs
Advancing with Innovation, Rooted in Sustainability, Partnering with Community
Everyday technologies and services you rely on are powered by our infrastructure, and the Aligned Frederick data center is a vital part of that network.
What is a Data Center?
The technologies you rely on every day have a home in data centers like Aligned Frederick. But the impact goes further: Our data centers also support the local economy through job creation, drive investments in renewable energy, and contribute to the growth and well-being of schools and local communities.
Boost to Local Tax Base
Development of Aligned’s Frederick data center campus is estimated to provide Frederick County with approximately $22 million in tax revenue in 2026 (the first year of operations) and would stabilize at nearly $33 million in 2027.
According to the latest PwC report on data centers,
the industry supported more than 600,000 jobs in the United States in 2023, a 51% increase from 2017.

Setting the Record Straight: Aligned’s Water-Smart Data Centers
Aligned saves
10s of millions
of gallons of water per data center annually (when compared to legacy designs)
Aligned minimizes water use with
efficient cooling, waterless heat rejection, and a closed-loop design
that recycles existing water for cooling.
Liquid cooling can dissipate heat up to
1,000x
more efficiently than air.
What is a closed-loop system?
The closed-loop system maximizes water efficiency by continuously recycling and reusing it for cooling.
Think of it like a reusable water bottle for the data center’s cooling needs. Responded to the cooling challenges accompanying the rise of high-performance compute and AI applications, Aligned introduced its innovative DeltaFlow~™ liquid cooling technology in 2024. Using the same closed-loop design as Aligned’s air-cooled system, the solution utilizes zero outside water, maintaining Aligned’s commitment to sustainability and waterless designs. Liquid also has superior heat removal properties, which can enable more sustainable cooling solutions when implemented efficiently and with a focus on water conservation.
A Sustainable Path for Data Center Water Conservation
With Aligned’s cooling technologies, our data centers can operate independently of external water sources and without any reliance on local water supplies. Moreover, as AI becomes increasingly embedded in business operations, everyday applications, government, and scientific research, Aligned provides a more sustainable and water-efficient approach than legacy data centers.
Aligned’s cooling systems achieve zero outside water usage by employing a closed loop design and/or waterless heat rejection technologies.

We believe that teaching younger generations about the value of trades and careers in critical facilities is a priority in our educational efforts. Providing opportunities for technicians to enter the data center industry via internship or full‐time employment are ongoing initiatives, as is increasing support of high school STEM programs.
Technical Training
We have championed various career development and upward mobility programs to provide facility operations training to existing personnel, creating an experienced talent pool of future technicians.
Internships
Aligned partners with educational institutions and industry organizations to sponsor interns at our data center campuses. These programs provide hands on learning in the field of data center operations.
Scholarships
Through its foundation partnership with iMasons, Aligned offers scholarships and substantial high quality professional certification discounts to students to help prepare them for success in digital infrastructure.
Military Recruitment
Aligned proudly partners with military agencies and recruiters to attract veteran candidates to our data centers. We are passionate about supporting the veteran community, which is a critical aspect of our team.
